Agriculture Development Fund accepting LOI's

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is now accepting Letters of Intent (LOI's) for research funding under the Agriculture Development Fund (ADF). The Agriculture Development Fund of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture will consider proposals related to any aspect of agricultural production and value‐added processing. As in past years, an overriding priority is improving the profitability for farmers and ranchers.

Letters of Intent will be accepted until April 16, 2018. Please note the change in closing date. As April 15, 2018 falls on a Sunday, the date has been moved ahead to April 16, 2018. The Agriculture Development Fund is an online application system. This system is located at: https://arb.gov.sk.ca/ and is best experienced using a modern browser (such as Internet Explorer 11, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox).

Government Updates Extensions Services to Support Agriculture Industry

February 2018

The Ministry of Agriculture is changing how it delivers extension services to better meet the needs of farmers, ranchers and agri-businesses, both now and into the future.

The new model maintains the existing structure of 10 Regional Offices in their current locations around the province, while incorporating a number of changes aimed at ensuring the Ministry is delivering services that support the sustainable growth of the agriculture industry.

Sask Crop Insurance Forage Coverage 2018

Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced changes to Saskatchewan Crop Insurances in early March. Enhancements to the program will be of interest to Saskatchewan forage and livestock producers. Some highlights include the addition of fire insurance under the Forage Rainfall Insurance Program, restoration benefit for drowned-out hay land, increased compensation rates for predation of calves and more.

SK PCAP Manager Position

The Saskatchewan Prairie Conservation Action Plan (SK PCAP) consists of 29 organizations representing producers, industry, provincial and federal governments, environmental non-government organizations and research/educational institutions working towards a common vision of native prairie conservation within Saskatchewan’s Prairie Eco-zone.

The position is a 12 month full-time position with the possibility of extension. The individual will work under the supervision of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association General Manager at the office located in Regina, Saskatchewan, and under the direction of SK PCAP’s Executive Committee. Flexibility of options will be entertained and salary will be based on experience.
